Building a Supportive Collective

MCWI Large Gathering

The Thriving Children: Sharing Diverse Perspectives through Research, Story, and Art event served as a kick-off to the Mayerson ChildWell-being Initiative (MCWI). MCWI will bring children, youth, families, community partners, institutional partners, and academics together to co-create a shared framework and measures set to accelerate our collective knowledge of and action for child thriving.

Event Objectives:

  • Build our community by gathering and sharing our collective experience through art, performance, and speech.

  • Collect diverse perspectives of child and youth well-being by combining academic research with stories and performance.

  • Synthesize the learning as a first step of a community-led design process through which we develop a shared model to describe and measure child and youth well-being in our community.

MCWI Affinity Groups

MCWI’s Affinity Groups are comprised of people with shared perspectives coming together for a shared purpose. Affinity Groups are led by one of our Core Community Leads and supported by MCWI.  In 2024, we launched our first affinity group for youth (Seniors at Aiken High School).
